Incremental / Differential Backup (CBT/VDDK)

Iperius fully supports VMware Changed Block Tracking (CBT/VDDK) technologies, therefore enabling the incremental and differential backup of ESXi virtual machines and only carried out on the space actually occupied on the disks. This allows users to speed up the process and make the backup procedures more granular, while also reducing the space required. It is compatible with both vCenter and ESXi Free (vSphere Hypervisor).

Iperius can automatically create "Application Consistent" backups even of Linux virtual machines, by quiescing the file system with pre-freeze and post-thaw scripts.

Incremental replication of ESXi, even on ESXi Free hosts and without vCenter

Iperius Backup is the only software able to perform incremental replications of virtual machines also on ESXi Free hosts (both as source and as target). Iperius performs block-level incremental replication, performing a full replica the first time and then copying only the changes on the disks. Replication is fast, efficient and can take place between any host, without needing to have a vCenter. The replicated machine is immediately bootable in case of need.

"Application consistent" backup on Linux using pre-freeze / post-thaw scripts

Iperius Backup is able to create "application consistent" backups even of Linux virtual machines, thanks to the automatic execution of file system quiescing scripts (pre-freeze and post-thaw). Quiescing settings can be set individually for each virtual machine and are important for virtual servers that provide database or mail server services, which can have a high file system workload.

Restore individual files from ESXi VM backups

Iperius includes a simple and powerful feature to recover single files or folders from the backup of a VMware ESXi virtual machine, without having to restore the entire machine. You can restore files from an incremental or differential backup, then on a specific date, or open a VMDK file to explore its contents and extract the desired files.

Restore also on different hosts

Iperius provides powerful features for automatic restores of virtual machines, for ESXi/vCenter as well as Hyper-V. In a few easy steps you can restore a virtual machine, even on different hosts and from specific incremental or differential backups. Restores can also be used to replicate/clone virtual machines on hosts, datasets or different data centres.

VSphere ESXi Hypervisor Virtualization

VMware vSphere, commonly known as "ESXi" from the name of the underlying architecture, is a bare-metal hypervisor, which is installed on the physical server and allows you to manage multiple virtual machines. Iperius can connect to any ESXi server on the network, run the snapshot of the virtual machines and then make hot backups on different devices.
